perfect example of how design drives a product (or at least its virality). i’m pretty sure no one has ANY idea what this site is. empty twitter, empty tumblr, no hype, no tc coverage. all it has is beautifully executed design and an inkling that it may have something to do with travel or locations.

and yet. SIGNUPS. it’s viral. they even got me, and i’m probably the most wary person of signing up (at least, in this industry).

Betrayal. That’s the first thing I feel, which is ludicrous. For there to be betrayal, there would have had to been trust first. Between Peeta and me. And trust has not been part of the agreement. We’re tributes. But the boy who risked a beating to give me bread, the one who steadied me in the chariot, who covered for me with the redheaded Avox girl, who insisted Haymitch know my hunting skills… was there some part of me that couldn’t help trusting him?

tripsq is a fun tool that turns your foursquare checkins into a neat data visualization. it’s a good reminder of what i actually did last year, because i spent so much of it busy and stressed that i never had a chance to sit down and reflect on it.
i made last year’s resolutions on the assumption that i would have lots of down time. instead, i had my most intense and challenging year to date. it was a time of learning, of surprises. and goodbyes. in the process i learned a lot about myself—the way i work, my strengths and even more weaknesses, what drives and fulfills me, how i relate to people. it’s the first time i’ve truly felt like an adult—building two businesses, living bicontinentally, and growing out of childhood relationships. it hasn’t been easy, but i’m incredibly grateful for the people who’ve given me the opportunities i have.
no resolutions this year. just going to attempt a bit more balance. a little more of prioritizing and simplifying. a little more quietness.
